To my fellow deviants

I have been rather pre-ocupied this year and you may have been wondering why I have been missing in action for the past x amount of weeks/months (if you havent then it would probably be best to stop reading now).

Life has been (and still is) good. I am currently studying engineering at Victoria University and learning alot in a short amount of time. My goal is to use these engineering skills to help people on a large scale. I could not be totally happy if my work wasn't helping people.

As you can imagine, engineering involves alot of study, but I enjoy the course, so it's worth it. Perhaps this is why I havent seriously touched Photoshop this year (with the exception of 'modifying' some graphs for energy systems); but I don't think this is the real reason.

Creativity takes on many forms; DA being a perfect example of this. I found (from my frustrations throughout Secondary School) that art was the best way I could express myself, and at the time, helped me out significantly. I guess this has changed, and my creativity has been diverted into other areas of my life. This is why I no longer feel the need to create (atleast in regards to 'art' ). So I guess this is adiós my fellow deviants.

To those who have showed genuine interest in the art I have created, your awesome.
To those who couldn't care less about my art, your awesome too.

Have a good one everyone.

- Tyson.

April fools

Thanks alot DA

Because of your pokemon DP prank I thought that somebody had hacked my computer. Now, based on this misinformation I thought it would be best if I cut my losses and threw my laptop out of the window.
Now I live on the second story of my house, and when this laptop fell to the ground I heard a cry of pain. I looked out of my window, only to find an old lady lying unconcious underneath my "infected" laptop.
I went outside to check if she was alright, and by that time (30 mins later - [it was lunchtime, so I ate first]) quite a crowd had gathered around her. Unfortunately the lady identified me as the culperate and the crowd quickly turned on me. I easily outran them because I am such an awesome athlete, but then they decided to trash my car. Not cool guys.
And, because I couldn't drive, I arrived late to work and got fired.
Now, I needed to have 5k to pay off my debt to some local gangsters by 12:00 tonight. Regretfully, I only had $4950 saved up, and because I could not work, these mobsters will be very angry at me - so I am currently in hiding somewhere.

I wish DA would think of the possible reprocussions of their actions in the future.
Very inconsiderate guys.

Easter

Thu Mar 20, 2008, 4:10 PM
Good morning distinguished guests, ladies and gentleman.

As all you folk out there should know, there is a certain holiday coming up on Sunday known as "Easter". Ring a bell?

From an early age, Easter has been a time of confusion for myself, and i'm sure, countless others. My primary school teachers would teach the class that this holiday was all about the resurection of christ; and then we would go off and colour a bipedal bunny rabbit holding a basket of eggs. Now, this kind of struck me as odd, and my young mind couldn't really find a link between the two (children are so stupid).
Later on I would discover that the bunny was a symbol of fertility and rebirth (beacuse of their large litters and er..mating habbits). What better icon for our children, right?

Now, forgive my momentary sinisism, but I believe our good friend the Easter bunny has another even more evasive symbolism; corporate greed. No, I won't go on about how companies exploit religious faith to make billions each year. Instead, I would like to discuss what is right about this Easter holiday and what people should be focussing their efforts on.

I am an atheist. I have no religion. This doen't mean that I am not moral or have a spiritual side. Far from it. Despite this, I feel that these holidays are very significant. Why? Because it is a chance for family members to break their daily routines and rekindle the bonds between loved ones. A time of love. And, (after thinking deeply about this) tradition.

This I feel, is the one true significance of our friend the Easter bunny. Tradition. Giving tasteless factory sculpted chocolates to one another is still a tradition. You see, it would not matter If we exchanged pieces of chewing gum or pineapples; it is still tradition none-the-less. Human society cannot function without traditions - it is what bind us together as families and lovers.

So on this note, I would like to appologise to the 6 foot easter bunny I kicked in the shins when I was nine years old. My bad.

I hope that you all have a great time - be it with family or friends. Have a great Easter.

Progress

Tue Mar 18, 2008, 11:52 PM
Hello friends

My week thus far has been rather eventful. Perhaps the best things that happened to me where the ones that no-one can see. You see, since since Tuesday I set myself a challenge; a vow of kindness. Why, you ask? Well recently I feel (and have been told multiple times) that I have been excessively mean to those around me, so on that note, I decided to commit myself to being a "nice guy" for 24 hours.
It wasn't really all that hard to do, I just had to hold my tongue on occasion (particularly around family). I felt so much better for it too, I don't see any reason why I should stop. Life is too short to be mean.

Now i'm not a religious person, but the whole "karma" thing has been tilted in my favour as of recent. Quite a few significant learning opportunities have eventuated for me. I guess the newfound positive outlook helps me spot these opportunities too; kind of a self-fulfilling prophecy.

Anyways, my engineering class is going for a two hour walk tomorrow looking at bridges (yay), so hopefully it doesn't rain. ^^
